Olympians

On Thursday Amanda had 6th grade Olympics, and when you are in 6th grade this is a BIG DEAL! It's a two day event filled with competitions and a lot of fun. Amanda was part of Team Bahamas. They started with opening ceremonies where all the countries paraded their athletes around the track, just like the real Olympics...well kinda.

Amanda competed in four events. The high jump, the long jump, the 400 and the 4X100 relay. Here she is getting ready for her first race, the relay.

Passing the baton.

Running it out!

Between events they watched other events and played games.

Here she is getting ready to do her high jump.

On Thursday night we also attended Sam's 4th grade Reading Olympics ceremony. All the fourth graders received a medal based on how many pages they read in a ten week period.

Star Wars party

Last weekend one of our friends threw a Star Wars party. If you know Connor, any reason to dress up and wield a sword or in this case a light saber is grounds for a good time! Darth Vader even made an appearance. And yes, that is a Death Star pinata you see hanging in the background.
Connor the Storm trooper giving young Anakin a run for his money.

Possibly my favorite picture. Han Solo and Princess Leia, with a diaper bag.

Memorial Day at the Wild Animal Park

Yesterday for Memorial Day we went, as a family, to the Wild Animal Park. It was perfect weather and we had a great time.

We visited the petting zoo.

We played at the park.

I think every ones favorite thing we did was feeding the nectar to the Lorikeets.

Just before we left we got to walk through the newly opened Dino Mountain. The big, moving, noise making dinosaurs terrified Madison, but she loves the baby dinosaurs!

Gold Rush Day

Yesterday was 4th grade gold rush day for Sam. They got to dress up, pan for gold and have chili and cornbread for lunch. I think there was more to it, but those were Sam's favorite parts! Sam was definitly one of the most "dressed up". People asked where we got all the stuff. Hello...we're Mormon.

Panning for gold with help from her little sis. Eureka!

Listening to a "real" 49er explain how to pan for gold.

Sea World Field Trip

Yesterday Connor went to Sea World on a field trip with his dad! I was grateful for that. The Sea world part is fun, but the half an hour bus ride, there and back with 40 or so 5 year olds is not my idea of a good time. They had a blast!

Hangin' with his buddy Jaden.

Loading up on the bus to go home!

Weekends are just too short

This Saturday was Connor's last t-ball game. He got to play catcher. I can't stand how cute I think he is in all that gear

He got a game ball and a certificate after the game!

After the t-ball game we headed over to our friends house for her two year old sons birthday. The party was a lot of fun and very relaxing!
Connor relaxing at the party after a long day of playing t-ball!

Shark boy

Logan, Don't let anyone make fun of you for frequenting scrapbook stores and fabric stores. We're glad you do. How else would you have come upon this great find?!

This is what I love to do.

The night before Mother's day I was up late making these:

Then I boxed them up to give to some of my favorite mommy friends at church.

I spent Sunday morning finishing these up for my nursery class to give to their mommies.

Shaun asked why I was "working" so hard and staying up late when I should be relaxing. It was Mother's Day after all. He just doesn't realize how much I love baking and paper crafting! Plus I got to leave all the cookie making, chocolate dipping dishes in the sink for him to do. Oh yeah, and I want all my friends to be fatter than me.

Mother's Day

I posted this because I thought it was funny and because it reminds me of something...oh yeah, this family picture we had taken right before Matt left on his mission:

This is the last family picture we've had taken. It ended with my mom in tears, and not tears of joy. Good job boys, you know who you are. Happy Mother's day anyway mom. And maybe someday we can get a family picture taken that actually looks good...but don't count on it.

The Best Day

Just wanted to post this because I love this song, I love Taylor Swift, and because Mother's day is coming up and I love my mom! She's definitely shared some of the best days of my life!

What a great surprise!

This is where my kids spent most of yesterday afternoon. Thanks to a very thoughtful friend for making my day, and my kids day!

PS- For those of you who might be concerned, they didn't spend it in front of the TV all afternoon, the tent is portable!

I can't believe it's over!

Yesterday was closing ceremonies for the girls softball league. I can't believe the season is over already! Both girls had a great season! Sam especially loved having Shaun coach her team.

Amanda received a Scholar athlete award which included a $50 Savings Bond. Yay Amanda!

Sam at closing ceremonies.

Even though the girls season is over,Connor still has a few weeks left in his. Last week they had a raffle, and Connor won a sweatshirt. He was so excited and wanted to wear it to his game. As you can see it was a little big for him. At first he was disappointed, but now I can't get him out of it!
